battleriver POSITION OPENING FOR ICE TECHNICIAN
The Twin Rivers Curling Club is accepting applications for the position of Head Ice Technician at the Northland Power Curling Centre in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.
We are a 4 year old State of the Art six sheet facility located in Northwestern Saskatchewan. We are a full service curling facility including a restaurant and bar. We are excited to be bringing in brand new rocks from Kays Rocks of Scotland arriving at our building shortly for use in the upcoming season. Our season runs from October 13 to April 1 including weekly leagues, junior programs, school programs, bonspiels and other rentals/special events/regional and provincial competitions.
Responsibilities of Ice Technician:
To include but not limited to:
1. Installation and maintenance of 6 sheets of curling ice including installation of all ice logos and ice markings as well as dividers between sheets.
2. Ensuring that all sheets are maintained daily and ready for all league play, rentals, bonspiels and other functions as required. Scrape, clean, pebble, nip or drag ice prior to draws.
3. Clean ice surface including rocks, rock beds, hacks and all non-playing areas in ice arena.
4. Work with other casual employees and/or volunteers to ensure that ice surface is ready for play at all times.
5. Ensure that all curlers needs are met in ice surface area to include but not limited to stocking of water, facial tissue, emptying garbage, etc.
6. Ensure that all ice equipment is kept clean and well maintained and stored/hung in proper place.
7. Meet on a regular basis with the General Manager to plan and implement ice maintenance program for both day to day and special events.
8. Perform minor building maintenance repairs and preventative maintenance and communicate with General Manager in a timely fashion regarding larger maintenance issues requiring the attention of City Maintenance and/or outside contractors.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possess a Level 1 Ice Technicians Certification (or willing to take Ice Technician Certification as soon as possible on position acceptance).
Reports To: General Manager
Salary: Negotiable with experience.
