Joe Frans (Acton, ON) won 6-5 over Ontario's Greg Balsdon in the Final of the Stroud Sleeman Cash Spiel, held October 11 - 14, 2012 at the Stroud Curling Club in Innisfil, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Frans won 7-6 over Jake Higgs (Harriston, ON) in the semifinals of the 2012 Stroud Sleeman Cash Spiel in Innisfil, Ontario, Canada; and won 5-4 over Pat Ferris (Grimsby, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2012 Stroud Sleeman Cash Spiel in Innisfil, Ontario, Canada;

Frans finished 4-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Frans defeated Ontario's Jeff Clark 7-4, then went on to lose 5-4 against Colin Dow (Ottawa, ON). Frans responded with a 9-3 win over Al Corbeil (Barrie, ON). Frans won 5-4 against Northern Ontario's Mike Jakubo. Frans went on to lose 4-2 against Ontario's Greg Balsdon. Frans responded with a 4-2 win over Daryl Shane (Waterloo, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Stroud Sleeman Cash Spiel Championship title, Frans earned 7.500 world rankings points along with the $5,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 6 spots the World Ranking Standings into 19th place overall with 62.512 total points. Frans ranks 9th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 37.170 points earned so far this season.
