Tirinzoni into Western Showdown Semifinals

Switzerland's Silvana Tirinzoni plays Beth Peterson of Winnipeg in the RBC Dominion Securities Western Showdown semifinals.

Tirinzoni, throwing the third stones for her rink based in Aarau, Switzerland with Alina Paetz throwing fourth stones and Carole Howald and Briar Huerlimann on the front end won 4-2 over Penny Barker of Moose Jaw in the Quarterfinals on Sunday morning.

Tirinzoni entered the weekend with back-to-back event title, winning the Boost National in North Bay, Ontario last weekend, with a win at the Stu Sells Toronto Tankard the weekend before.

Tirinzoni also won the Saguenay Summer Series in August, giving the team three event wins already this season.

Peterson, away for the weekend has Robyn Silvernagle in the lineup at skip, winning her last matchup against Tirinzoni at the 2019 Boost National in St. John's.

Peterson won 5-2 over Vancouver's Clancy Grandy.

In the other semifinals, Italy's Stefania Constantini plays Abby Ackland of Winnipeg. Constantini held off Eun ji Gi of Korea, 4-2, in the morning Quarterfinals while Ackland won 5-3 over Japan's Sayaka Yoshimura.
