Asselin finished 3-0 in the 22-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Asselin defeated Rob Ainsley (Toronto, ON) 7-2, then won 5-3 against Champ to advance to the A-Qualifier where they 7-5 against Pat Ferris (Grimsby, ON) to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Stu Sells Brantford NISSAN Classic Championship title, Asselin earned 26.250 world rankings points along with the $5,000CDN first prize cheque.
