Johan Engqvist (Harnosand, SWE) finished 1-3 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Engqvist lost 6-5 to Anders Kraupp (Stocksund, SWE), then responded with a 6-3 win over Jonas Eden (Gothenburg, SWE). Engqvist went on to lose 7-5 against Anders Antonsson (Solleftea, SWE). Engqvist lost 7-3 to Gert Precenth (Mjolby, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.

Engqvist earned 1.379 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 29 of the event schedule, Engqvist did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
