King finished 3-1 in the 25-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, King defeated Jacob Lamb (Dundas, ON) 9-2, then went on to lose 6-5 against Sandy MacEwan (Sudbury , NO). King responded with a 6-3 win over Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI). King won 7-3 against Mark Kean (Woodstock, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
