Gushue finished 3-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Sam Mooibroek (Kitchener, ON) 6-4, then won 8-5 against Michael Fournier (Montreal, QC) and 7-4 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Stu Sells Toronto Tankard Championship title, Gushue earned 51.344 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 4th place overall with 249.217 total points. Gushue ranks 10th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 51.344 points earned so far this season.
