To advance to the championship game, Ruohonen won 8-7 over Korey Dropkin (Duluth, MN) in the semifinals of the 2021 Curl Mesabi Classic in Eveleth, Minnesota, United States; and won 8-0 over Daniel Casper (Chaska, MN) in the quarterfinals. of the 2021 Curl Mesabi Classic in Eveleth, Minnesota, United States;
Ruohonen finished 3-1 in the 13-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ruohonen defeated Connor Kauffman (Blaine, MN) 9-3, then went on to lose 5-4 against Jed Brundidge (East St. Paul, MN). Ruohonen responded with a 7-3 win over Luc Violette (Chaska, MN). Ruohonen won 7-2 against Patrick Connolly (Pittsburgh, PA) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Curl Mesabi Classic Championship title, Ruohonen earned 25.880 world rankings points along with the $5,178CDN first prize cheque. Ruohonen move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 17.864 points improving upon their best 4 results so far this season, ranking 18th overall with 190.015 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Ruohonen ranks 23rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 86.202 points earned so far this season.
