Yves Wagenseil (Bern, SUI) lost 7-2 to Jacques Gauthier (Winnipeg, CAN) in the Final of the World Junior Mens Championship, held February 15 - 22, 2020 in Krasnayorsk, RCF. To advance to the championship game, Wagenseil won 9-6 over James Craik (Aberdeen, SCO) in the semifinals
Wagenseil finished 5-4 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Wagenseil lost 7-3 to Daniel Magnusson (Karlstad, SWE), then responded with a 8-3 win over Giacomo Colli (Trentino, ITA). Wagenseil went on to lose 7-5 against Gauthier. Wagenseil lost 7-4 to Matthew Neilson (Naseby, NZL) where Wagenseil responded with a 10-9 win over Andrey Dudov (Moscow, RCF). Wagenseil won 7-4 against Luc Violette (Lake Stevens, USA). Wagenseil went on to lose 7-2 against Craik. Wagenseil responded with a 6-3 win over Eirik Oey (Oslo, NOR). Wagenseil won 9-4 against Sixten Totzek (Hamburg, GER) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the World Junior Mens Championship, Wagenseil take home 19.359 world rankings points. For week 31 of the event schedule, Wagenseil did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
