To advance to the championship game, Skanes won 5-4 over Andrew Symonds (St. John's, NL) in the semifinals of the 2020 Newfoundland & Labrador Tankard in St. John's;

Skanes finished 6-2 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Skanes defeated Colin Thomas (St. John's, NL) 7-3, then won 8-5 against Mark Noseworthy (St. John's, NL) and 8-5 against Symonds. Skanes went on to lose 7-4 against Gushue. Skanes responded with a 6-4 win over Greg Smith (St. John's , NL). Skanes won 8-1 against Dave Thomas (Channel-Port aux Basques, NL), then won 8-6 against Nathan Young (St. John's, NL). Skanes went on to lose 8-6 against Ken Peddigrew (St. John's, NL) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Newfoundland & Labrador Tankard, Skanes take home 8.085 world rankings points, moving up 16 spots the World Ranking Standings into 119th place overall with 33.443 total points. Skanes ranks 115th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 33.170 points earned so far this season.
