To advance to the championship game, Sturmay won 6-3 over Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR) in the semifinals of the 2019 Medicine Hat Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada; and won 7-2 over James Pahl (Edmonton, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2019 Medicine Hat Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada;
Sturmay finished 3-0 in the 25-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Steven Howard (Regina, SK) 5-3, then won 8-4 against William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) to advance to the A-Qualifier where they 6-4 against Gunnlaugson to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Medicine Hat Charity Classic Championship title, Sturmay earned 46.481 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN first prize cheque.
