Groff/Doering finished 4-1 in the 25-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Groff/Doering defeated Kristen Streifel/Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) 8-1, then won 8-3 against Jennifer Jones/Brent Laing (Winnipeg, CAN) and 7-5 against Sahaidak/Lott. Groff/Doering went on to lose 7-1 against Kaitlyn Lawes/John Morris (Canmore, AB). Groff/Doering responded with a 9-6 win over Joanne Courtney/Reid Carruthers (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
