Iwai lost 9-2 to Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) where Iwai responded with a 8-3 win over Alexander Baumann (Baden-Baden, GER). Iwai went on to lose 10-9 against Marc Pfister (Adelboden, SUI). Iwai lost 7-3 to Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.
