Retornaz went on to lose 9-4 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Retornaz responded with a 10-6 win over Masaki Iwai (Hokkaido, JPN). Retornaz went on to lose 6-5 against Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR). Retornaz lost 5-3 to Rich Ruohonen (Seattle, USA) where Retornaz responded with a 11-4 win over Alexander Baumann (Baden-Baden, GER). Retornaz won 6-5 against Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) in their final qualifying round match.

Retornaz earned 12.080 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Retornaz move up 5 spots after posting a net gain of 10.56 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 62nd overall with 119.739 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
