Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) won 6-1 over Glenn Howard (Islington, ON) in the Final of the Canad Inns Men's Classic, held October 13 - 16, 2017 at the Portage Curling Club in Portage La Prairie, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Carruthers won 6-1 over Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Canad Inns Men's Classic in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada; and won 8-2 over John Shuster (Duluth, USA) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Canad Inns Men's Classic in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada;
 
Carruthers finished 3-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Carruthers defeated Dylan Johnston (Thunder Bay, NONT) 5-4, then won 5-3 against Shuster and 6-1 against Colton Flasch (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Canad Inns Men's Classic Championship title, Carruthers earned 60.362 world rankings points along with the $18,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 4th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 521.077 total points. Carruthers ranks 6th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 116.616 points earned so far this season.
