De Cruz finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, De Cruz defeated Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR) 6-3, then won 5-3 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL). De Cruz went on to lose 6-3 against Jacobs. De Cruz responded with a 8-3 win over Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Meridian Canadian Open Championship title, De Cruz earned 82.727 world rankings points along with the $30,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 7th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 65.297 after improving upon their best so far this season.
