In their opening game, Whyte defeated Andrin Schnider (Schaffhausen, SUI) 8-2, then won 8-3 against Blair Haswell (Dumfries, SCO) and 6-1 against Jorgen Myran (Oslo, NOR). Whyte won 7-5 against Marco Hoesli (Glarus, SUI). Whyte went on to lose 5-3 against Jan Hess (Zug, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
