To advance to the championship game, Kim won 4-3 over Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2016 Mother Club Fall Curling Classic in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; and won 7-3 over Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Kim finished 5-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kim defeated Mark Haluptzok (Bemidji, MN) 6-2, then won 6-1 against Daley Peters (Winnipeg, MB) and 4-3 against Taylor McIntyre (Winnipeg, MB). Kim won 6-4 against Steen Sigurdson (Winnipeg, MB), then won 6-1 against Trevor Bonot (Thunder Bay, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Mother Club Fall Curling Classic, Kim take home 19.594 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN prize, moving up 74 spots the World Ranking Standings into 99th place overall with 32.140 total points. Kim ranks 36th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 20.287 points earned so far this season.
