Appelman finished 5-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Appelman defeated Tyler Pfeiffer (Edmonton, AB) 7-4, then won 6-5 against Charley Thomas (Edmonton, AB). Appelman went on to lose 7-3 against Kyle Smith (Stirling, SCO). Appelman responded with a 8-6 win over Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT). Appelman won 5-4 against Jamie King (Edmonton/Calgary, AB). Appelman went on to lose 5-4 against Smith. Appelman responded with a 6-3 win over Jason Jacobson (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Red Deer Curling Classic, Appelman take home 35.620 world rankings points along with the $7,000CDN prize, moving up 13 spots the World Ranking Standings into 48th place overall with 118.173 total points. Appelman ranks 40th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 61.698 points earned so far this season.
