Jie Mei (Harbin, CHN) 6-5, then won 5-3 against Shannon Kleibrink (Calgary, AB). Makichuk went on to lose 7-1 against Alina Paetz (Zurich, SUI). Makichuk lost 6-3 to Jessie Hunkin (Edmonton, AB) where Makichuk responded with a 7-6 win over Saskatchewan's Brett Barber. Makichuk went on to lose 10-4 against Hunkin in their final qualifying round match.
