Ackerman finished 4-0 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ackerman defeated Glen Hanson (Edmonton, AB) 6-3, then won 6-5 against Kim and 7-5 against Jeremy Harty (Calgary, AB). Ackerman won 6-5 against Sean Geall (New Westminster , BC) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Red Deer Curling Classic, Ackerman take home 28.122 world rankings points along with the $7,000CDN prize, moving up 47 spots the World Ranking Standings into 66th place overall with 48.559 total points.
