Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) won 6-4 over Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in the Final of the Canad Inns Men's Classic, held October 17 - 20, 2014 at the Portage Curling Club in Portage La Prairie, Canada. To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 7-2 over William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2014 Canad Inns Men's Classic in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada; and won 8-6 over Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in the quarterfinals. of the 2014 Canad Inns Men's Classic in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Canada;
McEwen finished 5-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Geoff Trimble (Gladstone, MB) 6-1, then went on to lose 7-5 against Jeff Hartung (Langenburg, SK). McEwen responded with a 4-3 win over Steen Sigurdson (Winnipeg, MB). McEwen won 6-1 against Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, ON), then won 4-3 against John Epping (Toronto, ON) and 6-1 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Canad Inns Men's Classic Championship title, McEwen earned 40.000 world rankings points along with the $18,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 307.410 total points. McEwen ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 110.000 points earned so far this season.
