Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI) lost 7-2 to Northern Ontario's Bryan Burgess in the Final of the Curl Mesabi Classic, held December 14 - 16, 2013 at the Curl Mesabi in Eveleth, United States. To advance to the championship game, Michel won 6-2 over Ontario's Trevor Bonot in the semifinals of the 2013 Curl Mesabi Classic in Eveleth, Minnesota, United States; and won 3-2 over Jeff Currie (Thunder Bay, ON) in the quarterfinals.

Michel finished 4-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Michel defeated Tom Scott (Hibbing, MN) 6-4, then won 7-0 against Minnesota's Eric Fenson and 8-3 against Minnesota's Dale Gibbs. Michel won 8-3 against Scott Manners (North Battleford, SK) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Curl Mesabi Classic, Michel take home 5.810 world rankings points along with the $3,200CDN prize. For week 18 of the event schedule, Michel did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Michel ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
