To advance to the championship game, Bitz won 6-4 over Max Kirkpatrick (Swift Current, SK) in the semifinals of the 2013 Medicine Hat Charity Classic in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada; and won 6-1 over Korea's Soo-Hyuk Kim in the quarterfinals.

Bitz finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Bitz defeated Tom Sallows (Edmonton, AB) 7-1, then won 7-4 against Korea's Soo-Hyuk Kim and 6-5 against Wade White (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Medicine Hat Charity Classic, Bitz take home 6.300 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN prize, moving up 17 spots the World Ranking Standings into 55th place overall with 23.180 total points. Bitz ranks 46th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 10.255 points earned so far this season.
