To advance to the championship game, Koe won 8-3 over Matthew Blandford (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2012 Red Deer Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta; and won 4-1 over Rob Armitage (Red Deer, AB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Koe finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Koe defeated Nathan Connolly (Edmonton, AB) 6-3, then won 5-3 against Joel Jordison (Moose Jaw, SK) and 5-1 against Blandford in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Red Deer Curling Classic, Koe take home 12.600 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN prize, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 2nd place overall with 306.615 total points. Koe ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 147.655 points earned so far this season.
