Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, CAN) won 10-4 over Sweden's Rasmus Wrana in the Final of the World Junior Curling Championships, held March 3 - 11, 2012 in Oestersund, Sweden.
Bottcher finished 8-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Bottcher defeated China's Xiuyue Ma 8-4, then won 9-6 against Stephen Dropkin (Wayland, USA) and 7-6 against Switzerland's Dominik Maerki. Bottcher went on to lose 8-4 against Scotland's Kyle Smith. Bottcher responded with a 8-2 win over Italy's Andrea Pilzer. Bottcher won 5-2 against Sweden's Rasmus Wrana, then won 9-5 against Czech Republic's Lukas Klima and 8-2 against Finland's Iiro Sipola. Bottcher won 10-7 against Norway's Markus Snove Hoiberg in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the World Junior Curling Championships Championship title, Bottcher earned 8.000 world rankings points. For week 30 of the event schedule, Bottcher did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Bottcher ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
