I wouldn't say "self-destructed." 2008: PEI had a tough shot for the tie-breaker win and missed. Ontario had a tough shot for the semi-final win and missed. Alberta had a tough shot for the final win and missed. Put enough pressure on a good team and they won't make the shot when they need to - as demonstrated by Heather Nedohin this morning. It ain't pretty, but it gets you the W. If you can't dominate the team, win the battle in the trenches - JJ made the big shots when it counted, Nedohin didn't.

Cant wait to watch it shortly and see the blown sweeping call - hard to believe it would be Beths fault as Heather is always doing the calling

"Undeserving?" 11-0 through the round robin. Early struggles in the semi-final, but once they were finally able to start getting some rocks in the right place and get some pressure on Team Canada, Nedohin couldn't make the shots and Iskew blew the line call in the 8th end. This is exactly how JJ won a bunch of elimination games in 2008.
This should be a barnburner of a final tonight. Will be pulling hard for Jones, but am THRILLED that one of these two teams will become the new Team Canada. Look out, world!
Both Iskew and Nedohin blew the line call as both screaming most of the way. Panic seemed to set in for a bit. If Nedohin rolls 4" less, Jones is in the glue and may give up 3.

This notion of deserved and undeserved wins is bogus. If you win, that means at the very least you put enough pressure on your opposition that they made mistakes. Therefore if you win, you deserved it more than your opposition.
The only time I would ever think a team didn't deserve to win is on a crucial pick or something.

Jen and team just never give up! Way to keep the pressure on. Good luck in the final.

Eerily similar. But in 2008 Jen had some really young fawns in the final (Gothy O'Rourke and the Annies) and PEI was actually up 3 at the break before imploding. You kinda expect an inexperienced team to break down a bit. I didn't expect Nedohin, a defending canadian champ to spit the pit!
That was 2010 vs PEI. In 2008 she won when Kleibrink missed the double to win...and yes, in 2008 she only won because of 5 straight wins on opponents self destruction.
Wow you suck at facts.

Great comeback JJ,I only started watching in the 5th, and it wasn't looking good, but you can never count her out.Think the Homan team will have a few nerves or are they too young to know what nerves are?Hoping this comeback will rejuvenate Manitoba, either way we'll have a great Team Canada!

Jennifer Jones is already a legendary figure at the Scotties, and certainly one of the all-time greats at this event. What other player can compete with such prolonged consistent performance at the very highest level?
10 appearances, including 9 in a row from 2005-13
Never missed the playoffs
Lowest finish: loser of the 3-4 game in 2002
4 titles, 2 runner-up finishes, 2 third place finishes
100+ wins, 30-some losses (only Colleen has more wins and she's at 130-something wins and over 80 losses)
Can't argue the numbers. A win tonight would make JJ's already superb career even more exceptional.
Can't wait for the final, should be a doozy!

Wasnt it in 2009 that she beat PEI in a tiebreaker by stealing 10 and 11?

You're right, nelsosi. Got my years mixed up - 2008 and 2009 were both so similar in that she came through the tiebreaker, I got the details mixed up as to which teams were which year!

Yup. But she also came from tiebreaker in 2008 and won 3 or 4 RR games prior to stay at 7-4 and get a tie for 4th.

Might watch the bronze medal game just to see Nedohins bad body language and who can blame her. Bronze medal game= worst decision ever.

In the celebrated words of Yogi Berra, "It's ain't over 'til it's over".
And for those inclined to quote numbers, here's one from Leo Durocher, "Statistics are for losers".

What's wrong with CCA bringing in more money? Also, if you don't want Bronze medal game, don't watch it, but I am guessing a lot of people will be watching on TSN2 and in person.

Look at today. Second most important game of the Scotties on at 0600, Pacific. Mid afternoon there is a moronic, idiotic, meaningless, contrived match. This evening competing with the Oscars is the final.
Same at the Brier except that the East Coast folks wanting to watch the final will be up until the wee hours.

The Bronze game is just crappy for the team just losing the semi and equally crappy for the other team (BC) nursing hangovers! Should be a classic match-up with neither team wanting to be out there even though they undoubtedly will say they are proud to play in it.
For Bronze...major spoils for the 2nd best loser

One of the features of the Page system, with its single semi-final, is that the loser of the semi is the "bronze medalist", as if this means anything in this type of championship. But as a money grab (and I know having bought tickets for all sessions) there is an unneeded "bronze medal" game.
They want a bronze medal game - then do as in the Olympics, use a conventional playoff system.

As I recall, Kevin Martin was very outspoken in his opposition of the Bronze game 2 years ago.

That's exactly it. They've already decided 3rd place. The game this afternoon is a pure cash grab.

Canada had that game but one bad end cost them. You really have to feel bad for them because for about 85% of the game they were the superior team and now they only have about 2 hours to regroup and play for a medal they should already have against a team they've beaten twice already.
im actually kind of surprised that heather didnt give that angle double for 3 or 4 a try. I know it was hard but given how things had unravelled i thought she'd go for it
