Stats are also heavily influenced by gameplay. All else being equal, a team that gets an early lead is likely to play more open the rest of the game leading to a higher % on 'easier' shots.
In addition to the many factors that you and doubletakeout have rightfully noted can skew "trend" stats, a round robin of 11 games - let alone the 5 or 6 played so far - is WAY too small a sample size to really reveal any trends, and especially to have any predictive value. I predict that whoever plays the best at the right time will win!

Somebody needs to tell the Team Canada front 3 to shut the f up about strategy, especially when they're throwing and sweeping as bad as they are.

Case in point Manitoba vs Canada
Manitoba has played terrible for their standards, especially kaitlyn but jones has made some nice shots at the right time, She also been fortunate heather isnt sharp.
Overall an pretty underwhelming game.

I strongly suspect TSN is confident CBC and/or Sportsnet are no longer interested in STOH curling. Why? Cuz even TSN isn't interested. First half of this even is a bore-fest, the only real games are the Monster vs. Monster clashes of which there are far too few. Monsters demolishing Fawns and Fawns vs. Fawns just don't cut it. Thats why someone at TSN decided to pull the plug last night. Brier is still a desirable property due to its history and even some of the fawns put up titanic struggles before the monsters crack their heads wide open.
But judging from the mediocrity of most STOH games, the indifference of TSN's coverage we're pretty fortunate just to have TSN having their way with us.
Fully expected them to cut to BC and Team Canada. I suspect the real reason was the delay in PQ deciding to rip the velcro and concede the game. The break was over and they didn't have the time to move to another sheet.

At the risk of getting blasted, is it fair to say that in the case of both AB and NS we are not seeing their 'best' team as provincial representative, but rather just the team that got hot at the right time and won their provincials?
As far as Alberta is concerned --- absolutely. Moore got hot at the right time. She is definitely not the best representative for Alberta but she won the games she needed to win and to her credit she made some great last shots to win those games. Sad that those shots aren't there this week.

To each his own, I guess, ML. I would rather watch Homan and her team curl as well as they do with the great shot making . They know how to carry themselves with class and just go about the business of curling without all the histrionics and nonsense that Nedohin need to do.
"Histrionics and nonsense" is what makes the average viewer watch curling. Sure, if you're a curler, you appreciate the great shot-making and strategy of someone like Homan and you watch because you KNOW how satisfying it is to put that rock in the perfect spot and make the big shot. You don't need someone to tell you it was good. If you don't really know curling but kind of think it might be interesting, you quickly lose interest when even the players aren't animated about the game and the only way you know something good happened is because the commentator said so. It might be a "gentlemen's" sport but if we want people to get interested and keep the sport alive, we need the Nedohin's to show that curling is fun and can be exhilirating. You think the Johnny "the hammer" Chow et al ads would be so much fun if instead of getting excited about making the shot, on purpose, he just stood up, cleaned the ice up with his broom, and the announcer said "nice shot, Johnny".

As far as Alberta is concerned ACF has to give their collective head a shake.
Moore didn't even earn her way to the provincials. She got a free pass along with Delia DeJong. They both came out of the Peace district without playing a game. It's time that the Peace and the North amalgamate so nobody gets an unearned pass to the Provs.

TSN?
In case u are not able to see the games, TSN doesn't even have the Scotties in their Sportscentre line-up(no highlights). It just hockey, hockey, & more hockey. & even when Hockey To-nite follows Sportscentre with Koolie.
& Bryan Murdyck is the biggest curling phony at TSN. He made some snide remark about curling on another TSN radio show.
I loved Sportsnet provincial playdown coverage on Sundays. That was fantastic.
Like a coach who been there too long me thinks TSN needs to be fired.

Thats just the way it is with TSN. their coverage is about 85% hockey, 10% football, 4 % baseball and basketball and everything else gets crammed in.

Does not look good at all. I would be surprised if they were around at the end of the week at this point
ironic that in kelly's last 4 appearances 3 have been with jeanna and yet her best result will be the one year among those that jeanna wasnt with her

Remaining games for the top 3 teams are as follows:
MB: ON QC SK NB
ON: MB NS PEI CAN
CAN: SK AB NT ON
You've gotta think MB's in the best position right now for a spot in the 1-2 game. JJ's remaining schedule still has Ontario, but they are heavy favourites against Quebec, Sask and NB. Even with a loss to Ontario, they would still rank ahead of Canada should Heather Nedohin also be able to run the table.
Ontario still has two tough opponents left in MB and CAN.
Stretching into hypotheticals here, but what happens if MB beats CAN, CAN beats ON and ON beats MB to all finish 10-1? Do they use the Draw Shot Challenge rankings to determine who finishes 1-2-3? How would that work?

It's possible to to show passion and intensity out on the ice without making a fool of yourself. Lots of teams do it.

Kelly's team needs to take their stop watches and stomp on them. After all these years, surely they can call weight better than arguing over 93 or 95.

That's my feeling as well. PEI controlled that entire game minus the 10th end. It all started with the missed peel by Bradley.

PHEW!
Nova Scotia nearly blew a 6-2 lead but managed to pull things together in the end and win in the extra.
Colleen very nearly cost them the game with a bad line call though. At least she apologized for it

Still hoping for NS to get a tiebreaker just for the drama of it, but sadly with that not deserved win by BC I feel it's over. With BCs remaining games they "should" win out to go 8-3 and sadly with NSs remaining they likely go 6-5 (loss to Homan). Though... We play because anyone can defeat anyone so... Still hoping for 7-4 for NS. Silly loss to Quebec in their first game. They'd be sitting in a great position for 4th right now without that loss.
One thing I will say...all great skips/last rock throwers draw against 3 especially when you only need full 8 to win and only full 12 to only give a steal of 1. Mary-Anne made a lot of draws to 4 foot during that game so why she chose to hit on 10 is .... ??? Apparently she drew to button/pin to win in the extra.......
