Cathy O.. still in good form..
ML hasnt read his own Winnpeg Sun article about Cathy O
quote: Kirk Penton - Overton-Clapham puts retirement plans on hold
The 46-year-old said in January she planned to become a spare for teams outside of Manitoba and had therefore played in her final Scotties.
It's difficult to keep a competitive curler off the ice, though, especially one with the fire that burns inside a five time national champ like Overton-Clapham.
The Winnipegger wouldn't have been able to come back if she didn't have teammates with whom to play, and that worked out rather well, too, because Jenna Loder and Sarah Pyke (nee Wazney), who played with B.C.'s Kelly Scott this winter, were looking for a new squad.+ Loder played third for Overton-Clapham between 2011 and 2013, and had been pleading with her former skip to keep going with her and Pyke.
Overton-Clapham talked to her family and decided to keep going. She recruited her second from this year, Katherine Doerksen, and a new team was born
Her decision to keep playing competitively was reached two weeks ago, Overton-Clapham said, but what happened to her over the weekend in Toronto might have been the deciding factor had she still been waffling.
Overton-Clapham hooked up with Scottish star Eve Muirhead, playing second but holding the broom, and together they cruised to victory in the Players Championship
They even beat Overton-Clapham's former skip, Jennifer Jones, in the final for some tasty icing on the cake.
They pocketed a cool $26,000 for their efforts.

No Mary Fay
Just looking at the team list on GSOC site...It says Mary Fay will not be there..replaced by Sarah Daniels. Also Eve's third is Nadine Lehmann.

Nadine is third for Swiss - 2015 world champ Alina Paetz
Team Muirhead will be some tough with this addition
Also thanks Curlwalker.. for the tip about Sarah Daniels
who will play third for Mary Fay's Team...
while Kristin Clarke will skip in place of the absent Mary Fay..

Sad that Mary Fay chose to withdraw from this competition. Anyone know the reason why? Has she (or any of her handlers) posted anything to this effect?
According to a release about Sarah Daniels filling in for her, Mary is sitting exams in Nova Scotia this week.

and today we begin
quote: Scottish teams finishing season strong
Both David Murdoch and Eve Muirhead of Scotland enter the Humpty’s Champions Cup riding hot streaks through the tail end of the season.
Murdoch wrapped up the CCT season winning the EURONICS European Masters in Switzerland defeating Niklas Edin of Sweden 6-3 in Saturday’s final.
It’s Murdoch’s fourth title since mid-December and comes off of a Pinty’s GSOC career-best semifinal finish at the Players’ Championship a week ago.
Meawhile, Muirhead finished runner-up on the women’s side of the European Masters to Switzerland’s Binia Feltscher as the reigning world champion held on to win 6-5.
Muirhead enters this event winning back-to-back titles taking the City of Perth Ladies International and the Players’ Championship despite missing third Anna Sloan, who is out for the rest of the season due to an ACL injury.
Team Muirhead had Cathy Overton-Clapham as the super spare at the Players’ Championship in Toronto and have called upon Nadine Lehmann of Alina Paetz’s team for the Humpty’s Champions Cup.
PS There are three Scottish teams competing in the final Grand Slam event of the season
– Team Mouat earned a spot when they became World Junior Champions

Sarah Daniels
BC’s Sarah Daniels will be curling with Team Fay at the inaugural Humpty’s Champions Cup.
Sarah, 17, will play third for Team Fay, as regular third Kristin Clarke will be skipping in place of Mary Fay, who is sitting exams.
Sarah, who skipped BC to a silver medal at junior nationals, travelled with Team Fay to the World Junior Curling Championships as their alternate.
There, the Delta teenager helped the team secure a Gold medal.
First up for the team will be a game against Scotties Champion Chelsea Carey
on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. PT,
followed by Kelsey Rocque on Thursday 11:30 a.m. PT & Ayumi Ogasawara at 6:30 p.m. PT.

Anna
As long as Anna continues to date Eve's brother, she is not going anywhere.

Did I see a clip of the Carey/team Fay game with Carey just needing to draw full eight for the win?
What is that old saying ---- "if you can't draw, ????????"
Go Bluenosers! (plus Ms. Daniels of course)

Neufeld threw first in 4th. McEwen must have scored a steal.

Manitoba Legened you are way off base with that speculation.
Mary is one of the smartest ladies I have the privilege to know. She is ALWAYS prepared for ANYTHING she does. Her average mark is 98-100% in the most difficult high school program there is! How does she do it with missing almost 3 months of school for curling? Because she is mature, disciplined, incredibly focused and a master at time management. The exams she has to take are completed world wide on the same day. NO deferrals for ANY reason. If it wasn't for that you can bet your assuming @ss she would be there!
Props go out to Krisren Clark for skipping an awesome come from behind victory and an incredible adjustment for the team to gel so quickly!
Go Team Fay!!

As an amazing talent as Ms. Fay is, at least she knows that it is important to build a career as well. Hoping to make a living off curling is a very risky move. JJ disappeared for a few years while she completed Law school. Turned out ok for her. I think if Fay pursues medical school, it shouldn't hurt her curling career either.

Fleury earns Canada Cup berth?
Looks as if the 7th spot to the 2016 Canada Cup will (unofficially) go to Tracy Fleury. The only 2 teams that could've passed Fleury in the CTRS (McCarville and Flaxey) have both been eliminated with 0-3 records. Although Lawton also has a chance to pass Fleury, her off season lineup change will probably make them ineligible to compete.

well that depends what she does doesnt it. some careers in medicine can be very demanding and time consuming and wouldnt allow a lot of time for curling.even in university i had friends that went to medical school and didnt have much free time
