Canad Inns Women's Classic
Homan downed in opener on a steal by Mei from Harbin. Drum Rolls begin early.

well , to be honest rachel may have won her only event thus far but she didnt look overly convincing in that event so a loss here maybe isnt as surprising

McCarville is also slow-starting but they could be dangerous again this season..
( my faves..following Krista since she first appeared out of nowhere up north...)
The Sigfridsson-Tirinzoni match today might say alot
about Silvana's attempt to top the Swiss teams..
not easy with Feltscher,Paetz.. etc..
So happy TV will finally kick in Oct 27..to enjoy these very talented curlers..
me too. i think sigfridsson/tirinzoni will tell a lot about where sigfridsson is. is she back. if she can beat tirinzoni that'd be a statement
meanwhile im starting to think i jumped the gun declaring bingyu wang to be back . she looked so good when she won all week including the win over muirhead but she's barely winning matches since and already in C road here.

IMO- Think we are going to see an "unexpected"Alberta Scotties rep...
Sweeting is not rising up..never know which way she will go in a match...

as far as alberta goes i think casey scheidegger would be a really good bet this year. 2 wins with the finals being over muirhead and jones. she was a good junior now finally perhaps arriving at the highest level
if sweeting gets into form though she is the favorite , obciously
when you think about it a lot of the teams you'd consider favorites for provincials (lawton, sweeting, mccarville, fleury, einarson) have not done well this year so far. lots of time of course but they're all starting slow

Well ML... the latter of your predictions seems most likely to unfold. Homan is UP 5-zippo over Jones. She came out with the killer instinct I guess. Nothing like some motivation. Or... And... some bad misses somewhere.

in a somewhat surprising announcement it just got confirmed on the shaw broadcast that sweden is going with sigfridsson for the euros. kind of thought they'd send hasselborg and reward her fantastic season thus far

Team Hasselborg announced on their Facebook page that they will be representing Sweden at the European Championships.

If the commentators are announcing/confirming Sigfridsson on ShawTV, then they're just plain wrong. Hasselborg has done nothing (Qualified A) to lose their invite.

Sigfriddson is making Homan work.
Thanks ShawTV for having the game live on Youtube!

Seems to have a deeper style of strategy..
Team Homan looks very focused / well-prepared ..
good news for Canada..
Homan's style of strategy was "get the hell out of trouble"
The team was out curled. If it wasn't for Homan's timely shotmaking, they would be playing again tonight. They also got VERY lucky in the 4th end when Homan's rock over curled and ticked the guard just enough to put it back on the proper path.

Good ones ^^^^
Sigfridsson is still one of the top skips in the world
She has a super gem in Ostlund throwing fourth rocks...
They will get very dangerous by playdown time
BUT..biggest surprise is hoiw our little Betty Wang seems to
have picked up where she left off...very competitive skip!!
Manitoba and Alberta now have several "hungry" Teams.. will Jones get out of that province this year..have my doubts.. kinda disappointed in Englot's drop out of this event..
Nova Scotia - showing strong upcoming skip Brothers as maybe their next rep
Team Homan are the Team to beat world-wide this season..

I agree wholeheartedly that Dawn is the best lead in the game. I quite simply can't remember a game I've seen her play where she didn't play superbly. Can't think of any other player - men's or women's - I can say that about.

Scheidegger just scored 6 in the second end to most likely win their 3rd out of 3 tournaments this year. Not a bad start.

The only other women's curler I can think of that delivers a consistently high level of performance is Emma Miskew. Yes, Emma can often dip into the mid to hi 70s but she's so very good, her on-ice demeanour is magnificent. She is rarely in distress like her skip when things go awry. Truly one of the great ones in the game!
Hey, Legend, are you at the final now?
Will you be going to Okotoks? I will be there, so if you make it there, we can have a beer.

Rule #1 when playing the Homan Machine: When you do not have hammer, thy shall not try to be play like you have hammer or play like you are down by 4 or you will get burned in a hurry!
Lesson learned hopefully for our fine Japanese team for the future.
