2018 mixed doubles world championship
so with the mixed double world championship coming this week i figured i;d open the thread.
let's take a look at the field by group:
group A:
on the face of it switzerland should be heavy favorite to take first in this group. sven michel has won this event before and him and jaggi make a very strong pair. they've done well in all the events they've entered. switzerland should actually be favorite to win it all. united states and latvia also have strong teams and should get out of the group as well
group B:
way more wide open of a group. there's no real favorite here. england, denmark, hungary, turkey and norway will all contend to get out of this group
group C:
well, if you look at the players on the teams japan should be the class of the group yamaguchi and fujisawa have both had great success in their 4 person teams. finland will be the biggest challenge here. rantamaki and kauste are a very good doubles team. estonia and russia should also be in the mix to advance
Group D:
probably the hardest group to get out of. sweden, scotland, france, spain and china are all in this group. sweden looks to be the strongest team here. noreen/noreen have been to so many finals at this event. the scottish team here just recently won an event in latvia, beating jaggi/michel to do so so will be confident. spain have medaled before. be surprised if the any of the other teams advance or even contend
group E
this is canada's group and they should advance fairly easily , although they will have a very strong czech team to contend with for first. those 2 are the class of the group and shouldn't have any trouble here. korea, germany and austria will be fighting it out for the final spots out of the group.

latvia
switzerland
united states
hungary
turkey
estonia
finland
japan
russia
china
spain
scotland
sweden
canada
