2018 Brier
Didn't see another thread, so starting one I guess
Field is starting to take shape.
Very happy to see Epping finally get out of Ontario (no disrepect to Glenn)
Question - I know Mcewen will be one of the WC teams. Who is the other? Is it Gunnlaugson? If Jacobs were to lose N.Ont, I think he's still behind Gunnlaugson. What about Koe (if he wanted it, which I doubt) - he'd outrank them all, but is he eligible, or does not playing in playdowns make you ineligible for the WC game?

Jacobs just has to qualify for the playoffs to earn enough points to pass Gunnlaugson. He's only 5 behind.

Curious about Cotter. He somehow lost in BC (!!) yesterday so how high up in the CTRS is he?

"You had to have participated in your provincial/territorial championship" according to CCA thus Koe is not eligible

He's pretty far down the CTRS list. Quite a few other non-qualified teams ahead of him (Howard, Simmons, Lyburn, etc)

the winning streak was bound to come to an end at some point. plus it's not like he lost to some random nobody. geall is a former champion himself and he has a good team. i think most people just think cotter will always roll through BC but he's not miles ahead of everyone else there the way jacobs or gushue are in northern ontario and newfoundland respectively.
think the problem is most of if not all the BC teams outside cotter play either entirely in BC or only leave once or twice so no one really knows how they'll do at the national stage.

Right on... So barring something insane happening it'll be Mike vs Gunner in the play in game. Want as many MB teams as possible and hopefully as many as 3 next year...
