Canadian Juniors 2016 - no M&M?
I have obviously missed something with the sponsorship of the Canadian Juniors for 2016. I see that the championship is being "presented by" Egg Farmers of Ontario. I don't see M&M mentioned on any of the Curling Canada web sites related to the junior championship nor do I see the M&M logo patch on any of the garments the junior players are wearing.
Has M&M discontinued sponsorship of this great event? Is this a one year deal by Egg Farmers of Ontario because the event is in Ontario? If M&M is gone, I definitely missed that announcement.

Looks like M&M are no longer the sponsor - not good. However, I do know of a company that was interested in being a sponsor of some sort with Curling Canada. They told me that Curling Canada was difficult to work with...didn't return calls, seemed unenthusiastic. In the end they just didn't bother.
I hope this event does find a title sponsor and in these economic times, that won't be easy.

It's not a rumour, the sponsor approached me and I sent him to Curling Canada.
Yes, they have a group of sponsors for this year's event. But what about the long term?

Yes, I did - M&M is no longer a title sponsor. It appears they are a local sponsor which means their regional office likely stepped up at a local level. The organizing committee will often secure the local sponsors offering various levels of sponsorship.
The title sponsor (i.e. Tim Hortons) will have their name attached to the title of the event and give a large amount of funds to the event which usually covers travel and accommodation etc...They are part of the 'Season of Champions" seen here: Sponsor list M&M is no longer part of the Season of Champions.

NO.. check it out at.. the Sponsors page

For the 2016 juniors, M&M is, I think, classified as a "Skip Level" sponsor which, as another poster has pointed out, is a regional level of sponsorship. It is definitely not title sponsor as M&M was for several years.
Unfortunately, this all seemed to happen very quietly as I don't recall ever seeing any kind of announcement that indicated that M&M was no longer sponsoring the event. It would be kind of like seeing things for the 2017 Brier presented by Newfoundland Fisheries and never hearing that Tim Hortons pulled the plug....

I heard rumours* that the sponsor curlerbroad tried to get involved with the Juniors was involved in business activities that curling wouldn't want to associate itself with.
*this did not occur.

No ngm it was the Seniors
Actually I was surprised to see that M&M was no longer associated with the title of the Juniors...

M & M was sold to an investment company in 2014..
Searchlight Capital Partners LP
That is likely why there is a change in this sponsorship
As long as high-quality sponsors are continually coming
onboard the Curling train..
that should be all that really matters

I think any time a title sponsor is lost, especially a long-term title sponsor, it is cause for concern. The Canadian Juniors currently has no title sponsor - they have a presenting sponsor, and unless the event is slated to go back to Ontario next year, it's doubtful that the Egg Farmers of Ontario will be sponsoring next year's event.

I wonder if the rise to prominence of Pinty's as a curling sponsor had anything to do with it. They're a direct competitor to M&M's in some sense (similar product/different business model).

time for CC to hire a replacement for Stremlaw. Very few organizations can survive w/0 a CEO or ED for 9 months and not have problems develop. Too bad Merklinger didn't want the job.

I was wondering the same thing but I was trying to rationalize a possible reason. Pinty's is a sponsor on the Sports Net side of the fence which focuses more on the slam/bonspiel side of the equation and not the Curling Canada Season of Champions side of the equation and the teams that Pinty's sponsors directly are mens/ladies teams and not junior teams.
That being said, I could still see it factoring into a decision one way or the other.

sponsors
Maybe someone needs to check the Title Sponsors
for CC and GSOC... Pinty's also sponsors Genie Bouchard
The New owners of M&M dropped their money..
instead of putting more money into Junior Curling
by buying TV time..That is what sells
Egg Farmers of Ontario has 10 ON zones and is connected
to Egg Farmers of Canada
The huge swing toward fresh, healthy foods maybe
has had an impact on very high-sodium Frozen foods
Curling title sponsors like booze and tobacco have
been replaced... Curling continues to thrive..
.

Pinty's vs M & M Meats.... not similar at all
Pinty's is strictly frozen chicken
M & M - every kind of frozen food you can think of
have had slumping sales over the past few years
and several franchise closures
