So, for the women, it's a triple round robin of three teams. Each team plays the others three times. 10 draws.
For the men, it's a double round robin of 4 teams. Two games per draw. 10 Draws.
Will check back in a couple of days to see how the games look. If anyone is streaming on FB - post a notice. It would be good to see some action.

Live stream not working and they're not showing linescores. What's the big secret in Omaha?

I hope it was a good feed for Shusters hammer draw in the extra end. That was beautiful. Christensen's was even better.

Feed problems
FYI... the stream problems this afternoon were not TESN based, USCA based, USOC based or NBC based. There was an underlying technology issue with many streaming sites, including Fox, Turner, and others. It eventually cleared up, and the night draw worked as flawlessly as the two draws yesterday.
Sorry for the interruption, but there wasn’t anything any of us could do about it.

I wasn't blaming anyone, I just wanted to see if people were aware so if there was an issue (that wasn't just my internet connection), it could be fixed on whoever's end that it could be fixed..
And yes, the evening draw was working. Thanks.

do they still play meaningless end games?
If we get to the final draw or two and there's a match-up scheduled where the result wouldn't change anything about the playoff entries or the seeding, do they still have to play it?
Also, how is the alternate (fifth) player chosen for the Olympic teams? Is it somehow determined by the results at this event, or does the winning team get to choose or is it Team USA that makes the choice, etc.?

They have to play it because TV. Even though it's meaningless, the game matters for the broadcast.
The Fifth player is added by the USCA/HPP in consultation with the team. They have to be able to be considered as a credible International Level Skip (unless the team's starting four have 2 players who would qualify as such already, which I don't think any of them do).

These matches are only being webcast, though. They're not on TV. And according to the Extra Extra End Podcast today, if the Christensen v. Sinclair match that's scheduled to be featured tonight is meaningless (which it will be if Christensen loses her first match today), they're not going to show it and will concentrate on the men's match that will still have something at stake.
On the alternate issue, thanks for the info about how that's decided. I know that at the World Championships in China this year Cory Christensen was the alternate with Nina Roth's team. It'll be interesting to see how that selection plays out when this is all over with.

It has been quite the grind for the US teams to earn their Olys birth. 2 EE's and a one-point game in best out of three between Sinclair and Roth - so very little difference. Congrats to Team Roth. Whew!
Now Shuster earns a three in the first end in the rubber match against McCormick. All berths definitely hard-earned.
