Well Edin has had a rough slam season...but good for Epping.
After a shellacking of Carey this morning, Muirhead seems to be struggling. Holman bailing out her team as usual.

Some teams have def. better luck than others at the Slams. Rooting for Koe to get a Slam title in this season along with Jones, who shocked me by not making the playoffs.

Homan an Bottcher
Watching as many games as I could, both of these skips win the strongest back award as they carried their teams to the final. Go Homan Go.

If I had a dollar for every time Darren said oh great shot Brendan (subliminal...... thanks for saving my ass......old SNL fans will appreciate....) or the flip side Jennifer Jones says sorry, my fault, my bad, sorry Jo, Sorry Kaitlyn, I'd have 50 bucks this weekend alone. AND I didn't get to see all the games.
Still hoping for Fleury for MB Scotties. Just because.

In watching the Carruthers/McEwen team this week, it was extremely obvious why things are not working for them: The team has no Skip. They have 2 half-skips. No-one takes charge.
While that dynamic might function well with some teams (Koe), for others, it spells disaster.
I believe that Reid and Mike being good friends is actually working against the best interests of the team, as neither wants to offend the other by taking charge outright. Further complicating the matter is that Reid is officially the skip - it's his team -, but Mike is the more naturally assertive of the two.
In short, it's kind of a mess insofar as getting the best out of the team goes... and, sadly, I don't see it improving in the future unless they go their separate ways.

I said exactly that while watching their games. I don't think they'l be together next season. Reid makes a decision then Mike says "I'd rather do this" or vice versa. They're both good but...hmmmm.

Team Muirhead improvement
This was a promising tournament for Team Muirhead. Up until the semifinal, they were curling on top form. In particular, Eve curled 100% in their opening match win against Hasselborg, and then they went on to go undefeated through the A side and put a pasting on Chelsea Carey in the quarterfinal with a 7 in the 1st end of that one.
As for the semifinal, they lost because most of them, including Eve, couldn't find draw weight over on Sheet A for the first three ends, putting them into a 3-0 hole from which they never did fully recover. (Meanwhile, Alina Paetz, throwing 4th stones for Team Tirinzoni, had found draw weight and played some particularly good freezes.)
Still, a semifinal grand slam finish is, I believe, Muirhead's best result so far this season.

And we can put Joanne's less than stellar performance down to the baby bump.

Why is Joanne pregnant too? However Emma wasn't exactly shooting the lights out either. Tirazoni lost due to some strategic errors. They do need a coach, they had Peter Gallant but appear to have parted ways with him.

Good run by Robyn Silvernagle, she has got to be the favorite out of Saskatchewan this week?
