As for the BC final. it was an interesting and entertaining game. Tardi won, looked in control throughout really. That Matthew McCrady is a very interesting young men. He is a bundle of energy and i havent seen anyone get that worked up on the ice in a long time, you kind of hope he stays that way for his entire career because it was fun to watch. He has a bit of a temper on him to me thinks but you hope that he transitions into the mens game for the entertainment value of watching him play alone.

I think McCrady needs to channel his energy a bit...his adrenalin got the better of him...but he was very entertaining to watch, better than most of those junior automatons you see these days.

Very glad to see Team Howard at the Ontario Tankard. There is still a lot of talent in that team and I am sure they will make the playoffs. An Epping/Howard final will be very exciting. Good luck to all in the challenge round, there are a lot of very talented and worthy teams there. I'm looking forward to watching some excellent curling at the Tankard.

Thanks, interesting to note B side finals losers of the Regionals get an automatic entry. Good idea.

Challenge Round

Challenge round is actually different this year. Still a double knockout format with two spots. However, the old qualifying point system is gone and all teams will be accepted. Players will sell-seed the field after teams are confirmed the same as what is done for zones and regionals.

possible jones/sweeting match right off the bat, if val gets out of alberta.

and a tough opening 3 draws for jen. whoever gets out of alberta will be tough, followed by pei and then northern ontario in draw 3.she could end up 1-2 to start.

Anyone know what happened at the Ontario Junior women's game between Greenwood & Little - they quit after 4 ends with a score of 2-1????

I read on CurlingZone that they had to forfeit the game due to a broom violation. There can only be 3 sweeping brooms per team that are interchangeable. You can change a synthetic broom for a hair broom at any time but cannot bring in a 4th synthetic broom. I am not sure exactly what happened but they were in violation of this.

You would think at the Junior level, the coach would be ensuring that this didn't happen!

It's a new thing for everyone, you'd think there would be a warning issued especially in juniors.

Looking at the scores for the Manitoba Jr Men's playdowns - Dunstone demolished some poor team 19-2! Do the teams have to play so many ends before handshakes?

I don't understand why they have more than 8 teams at a junior provincial????
With the amount Manitoba has, your going to get more than a few blowouts like this.

PEI Wizard Returns

King Edward MacKenzie is back!

After not lacing up his curling shoes since the Mixed Nationals in November, The King has decided to skip the Blair Weeks rink at this years PEI Tankard.

Curling Bookies in PEI have been up to all hours of the night recalculating betting odds and lines with the recent addition of King Edward.

upset in the final round of the round robin for calvert. Loses 5-4 to JT Ryan. looks like a wild game with calvert getting down 3-0 early then stealing his way to a 4-3 lead only to lose after giving up a 2 in the last end.

thats a big deal because now he'll have to get to the final the long way. of course, if dunstone loses to wiebe we could have dunstone v.s calvert, with the loser being eliminated and a lot of people had that as the final.

Going by his pic on this site this JT Ryan looks pretty young, i'd guess 16, 17 .

Team Howard upset

Sherry Middaugh posted in FB via Twitter that Wayne Middaugh will not be playing in the Ontario Tankard due to an accident. She posted a picture of an xray displaying a displaced fracture of his lower leg.
