Canada really does have to steal here. even a single for sweden would virtually lock it up however if canada can get a steal things are still up in the air

Canada needs a lucky break. The Swedes are playing really well.
Stranger things have happened.

Only Martin and Howard are capable of preventing Swedish Meatball a la Torment....
On the tour events, you forgot Fowler (and likely McEwen) has had a fair bit of success against Eden. Yeah, give the meatball a gold minus a complete melt down.

Congratulations to team Sweden! Great shotmaking. Congrats also to team Canada. You represented us well! A couple of different outcomes on a few shots and who knows how it would have turned out! Way to hang in there!

Full value for the money as they over-powered a game but imprecise Canadian team.
Congrats to Jacobs for the classy way they held their heads high!
Wonder how the silver affects the Olympic trial standings?
it moves them about 1 point ahead of Epping.
Congrats to Team Sweden, a fine performance and thanks to Team Canada for representing us so well.

Two great teams:
Jacobs and team did themselves proud.
Sweden are deserving champs.
Looking forward to watching both teams for years to come.

Interesting fact:
The last time a team that wasn't from Canada, Scotland or Sweden won the men's worlds was 1992 when Markus Eggler won for Switzerland.

They weren't "out-classed" at all but Sweden was better on this game. One shot was a 4 point swing, Jacob's wide attempt to tap and roll to the button would have made a sure steal of one and probably two. Instead, Edin makes a nice tap for 2 and that gave him control of the game the rest of the way.
The problem with earning the 4th seed is you have more games to win and no hammer in end one. Today that cost them a quick two points, as often happens in Curling. So the seeds of this loss started with losing to Edin in the RR.
Great effort from Canada to get close and earn a Silver medal.
Edin was a worthy winner.

Agreed. 1 shot possibly changed the outcome of that game.

Edin was simply better on this day. Two great young teams who will have many great battles over the next decade +

.
that loss changed the whole complexion of the playoffs. Had they won, Canada would have been the 1 seed and Sweden would have been in a 5 way tiebreaker for the 4 seed.
Congrats on the well earned silver Brad & co. You did Canada proud this week.

That's one of the salutatory features of Page. 1 and 2 are humongously advantageous to 3 and 4 and 3 is clearly better than 4. You are rewarded for RR performance.

And good to see. Youth is the lifeblood of sport. Great that the Olympics are coming up. That'll gear up the competitive juices in the curling world.

and only 6 times since has the final not been comprised of some combination of canada, sweden and scotland
1997 - sweden v.s germany
2001 - sweden v.s switzerland
2002 - canada v.s switzerland
2003 - canada v.s norway
2007 - canada v.s germany

post WORLD'S HANGOVER!!!!!!!!
YEP the grand show is over for another year... Congrats to them Swedes they simply "out curled" our boys from the SOoooo, you could see their disappointed faces when the medals were presented to them, nothing to be ashamed in my book. ofcourse jubilation in the Swedish camp, and they will be heading to Toronto for the capital one "player's championship at the ole maple leaf gardens ...I for one will be there to watch catch a few draws..... I HOPE THEY FILL THE PLACE WITH FANS...OFCOURSE WE MIGHT HAVE TO ENDURE ANOTHER ROUND OF VIC RAUTER MR.'COMMERCIAL MAN" hahahahahaha

This has been the most exciting season of curling for more than a decade, thanks to Teams Jacobs and Homan. Part of what makes you cheer for them is that both teams are mostly composed of long-time friends. I hope it stays that way. I think it helps.

I want Canada to win double gold at Sochi. I think Rachel could do the trick. God help us if we get Jones. On the men's side, Howard rather than Jacobs or any of the other names that crop up.
