Just so everyone is aware, Andrea Crawford took a job relocation with the Canadian Army in Germany.

Nice for her. Maybe she could hook up with that Andrea from Germany - she's always looking for good young curlers!!!
So two angry Andrea's on one team

agree. if TSN could find a way to broadcast nothing but hockey they would
I can honestly tell you. TSN does not make the decision here.
I know that it is done higher up .

Personally I though Stef shoulda drawn to her own shot stone - force Val to make an incredible shot to avoid 3....
Not in Stef's DNA apparently! Stef appeared quite shaken after the match!
do you really blame her?

Sask will be kicking themselves when they look at the tape again. The rock that ended up killing them was their own guard that was 10 inches off the front of the house. When Stef went to throw her first one she was lying one behind that guard with another corner guard at her disposal. By drawing behind that she gave Sweeting the chance to freeze her out which she did. What she should have did was split the yellow guard that was covering her own. If she makes the split then Sweeting would have to make a double to avoid losing. Alot of good things could have happened trying the split. Where was Rick when they needed him !

Just read that Steph Lawson wins Skip position on first all star team. JJ wins skip position on second all star team.

saskatchewan was thinking of 3 by going around the corner. if you play the split and miss you lose. if you play the split and she makes a double, which would in all likelihood be fairly simple you go an extra. if you draw behind center and she makes the run double you go an extra.
even with the call stef made she had a fairly makeable draw for 2 and she came up light

The two matches yesterday were some of the best quality sporting activity I have seen in a while. Congrats to all three teams. Too bad this week that TSN morning "highlights" have been every hockey fight in gory detail followed by six nanoseconds of curling.

A most excellent suggestion. Reason it wasn't suggested is if you somehow miss the split and your own rock rolls into the house unabated - Val has a choice of doubles to END THE GAME!
Like I said before the play was to draw behind that short guard and lay 2 buried. Val then would have had a much more difficult freeze. If she crashes or scrapes off any of them the game is essentially over. If she angle-freezes to either then Stef has a short raise run split (a tough shot, yes but prolly to win)
Val was very fortunate to get her rock into 2nd shot position - a foot shorter and she's playing Rachel in the early show today.
Beg to differ ML but if Steph freezes to her own it leaves an easy run back double for Val. The split was a much easier shot than your freeze suggestion and the down side risk was significantly less. I liked the split over the call she made and certainly preferred it over your idea.

no matter what shot she made she was going to have a shot for 2 no matter what. the one she played was the only one that would lead to 3 if val missed her last

No disrespect to Ms Jones - perhaps the greatest curler Canada has ever produced - but I would like to see Val Sweeting win tonight so we get a new representative at the World's.

Quite agree about the excellence. As for TSN - their commitment via contract is to show the games in whats usually dead air space (mornings and mid-afternoons).
We got lucky this week cuz TSN has a couple extra channels and of course, Sportsnet relieved TSN of most of their NHL broadcast duties. Thus, no derailments of any evening draws.
Curling hi-lites are kinda verboten in the regular TSN hi-lites cycle.
They have 5 different feeds yet still ran the same draw on 3 of the 5 feeds for every draw. They can easily have curling on 1 or 2 feeds and enough room left for anything else. I cant figure out why they have 5 feeds, 90% of the time all feeds are the exact same show. As for morning highlights they can make more room for curling between the nhl, nba and break down of why the leafs suck and who will be traded. No other sports are on right now, tsn has more soccer highlights than they do curling.

The only good thing about the Mickey Mouse game on at 3pm (EST) is that it has two great competitors who will do all they can to win.

Englot / Schmidt partnership
According to TSN, sounds as if Michelle Englot and Steph Schmidt will be playing together in Regina next year.

There's another component to the problem. Even with 5 TSN feeds, some rural cable companies only have 1 TSN and 1 Sportsnet feed. In Manitoba, you very well be stuck watching a Winnipeg Jets hockey game instead of curling because TSN only their Winnipeg Jets hockey games on TSN3 which is the only TSN channel some rural towns get! Right now on TSN3 is the Daytona 500!?!?!?!?! So the rural customers won't be watching the Bronze Medal game. Do you really think Westman Communications (in most cases, the only cable outfit in Westman) going to put another dish etc. up so their rural customers can get all 5 TSN feeds anytime soon if at all? Try again.

We live in a TV universe where we get to see what the CRTC and cable companies want us to see rather than what we want to see.

feel really bad for stef and the team. a 4th place finish looks likely again.
i hate that they reintroduced this game. stef and her team should have the bronze medal already

If you can post to this site then why can't you watch the TSN webcast? I was doing both during Daytona.

Westman cable only offers TSN3. Unless you have a cell phone, you're out of luck trying to watch the TSN webcast. I can't tell you offhand if you can watch TSN webcast with an ipad. You can't expect the elderly to own a cell phone and the know how on how to watch TSN on the 'net.
