gtyiuder Thanks for sharing this information. I find this action unacceptable.

alex Thanks. We were actually lucky last year when the mens was in Quesnel that 2 teams entered the northern playdowns or probably no team from the north. It was doubly fortunate as a Quesnel team qualified and although they had no chance it generated a lot of interest.
jamcan Regarding the Quesnel team alex mentions. They were the only entry in the Northern Region playdowns.

Thanks to Curl BC's draconian rules, as the lone entry they were punished and told they could:

1) travel and compete in another region (that would've been a trip to Kamloops)
2)compete in the open event (a further trip on a different weekend to the lower mainland)

Either option would come entirely out of their own pocket. They chose, as did a men's entry from Smithers in the same boat, to tell Curl BC to go pound sand.

Good for them. No team should be punished for where they live.

And rightly
alex there actually was a Quesnel ladies team that wanted to play but I assume was the only entry from the north. They did not want to pursue it any farther when they were turned down at first instance. not a pleasant situation or satisfactorily resolved.
curlerbroad Decided to read this again and thought I was reading about the OCA...sadly any athlete who speaks up will be punished in some fashion. But clubs can & should. Their dues keep the associations going.
dinorock2005 Good read Sir.
curlerbroad Hmmm, similar things have happened in other Provinces...clubs who are the members could speak up but I suppose they are afraid of retribution
IN-OFF-FOR-2 I remember that John Morris fishing fiasco. Thing is, EVERYONE at curl bc had to be complicit to allow it to happen. Astros style cheating just so the bc men wouldn't get relegated. That should be your next story. Find out ALL who knew and complied with the lie, including the cca. Just because curl bc turns a blind eye, doesn't mean everyone else doesn't SEE what really went on.

The blog returns. Read above to see why its time for the Scott Braley era to end,,,
