The Fairview Curling Club is seeking applicants for position of Ice Technician and/or Club Manager. Closing date for this position(s) is August 21, 2014.
The Fairview Curling club has four sheets of ice; leagues operate Monday through Thursday with a second draw on three of those evenings. We have a membership of approximately 230 curlers. We host approximately six full weekend bonspiels and/or events; as well as five one day bonspiels throughout the season. There are daytime programs with school children, a Sturling league and after school Junior Programs.
Managerial Overview:
Supervising, conducting and maintaining the business affairs of the Club:
- Marketing and Communication – Maintaining an active membership database, inform members by email, updating the club website, weekly newspaper column and monthly newsletters
- Bonspiel/Special Event Management – Plan for banquets and events held in the Club
- Finance and Administration – Basic accounting and bookkeeping skills a requirement. Daily processing of all sales, payment of invoices, tracking receivables and reporting to the Club’s Treasurer.
- Membership Service – Deal with members’ questions or concerns effectively and in a timely manner
- Work cooperatively and in conjunction with the Board of Directors
- Supervision of Club staff
- Coordinate league play and bonspiel draws
- Maintain main floor area and lounge cleanliness
General Ice Technician Duties:
Primary areas of responsibility:
- Preparation of ice pad
- Ice Installation including ice signs
(if you have your own equipment)
- Daily ice maintenance
- Flooding as necessary
- Dealing with curlers concerns
- Maintain ice shed cleanliness
- Daily snow removal
- Removal of ice and proper storage of rocks
- Building to be cleaned at end of season
- Keep maintenance records
This position is seasonal and commences in mid September/October through April 15th annually.
Level I Ice Tech is preferred, but training can be provided to the successful candidate.
