Craig Kochan (Kapuskasing, ON) lost 7-5 to Al Hackner (Thunder Bay, NONT) in the Final of the Courtesy Freight Northern Ontario Superspiel, held November 9 - 11, 2012 at the Port Arthur Curling Club in Thunder Bay, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Kochan won 4-2 over Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN) in the semifinals of the 2012 Courtesy Freight Northern Ontario Superspiel in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada; and won 5-2 over Mike Assad (Thunder Bay, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2012 Courtesy Freight Northern Ontario Superspiel in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada;
 
Kochan finished 5-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kochan defeated Russ Mellerup (Thunder Bay, ON) 6-4, then won 7-2 against Northern Ontario's Dylan Johnston and 5-0 against Gary Weiss (Thunder Bay, ON). Kochan won 6-3 against Tyler George (St. Paul, MN), then won 9-1 against Zach Warkentin (Thunder Bay, ) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Courtesy Freight Northern Ontario Superspiel, Kochan take home 2.625 world rankings points along with the $3,200CDN prize, moving up 23 spots the World Ranking Standings into 121st place overall with 8.837 total points. Kochan ranks 124th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.625 points earned so far this season.
