Pollanen finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Pollanen lost 5-4 to Harri Lill (Tallinn, EST), then responded with a 8-2 win over Truksans. Pollanen won 7-3 against Andrin Schnider (St. Gallen, SUI), then won 8-3 against Martin Bukovsky (Prague, CZE) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Tallinn Mens International Challenger Championship title, Pollanen earned 14.012 world rankings points along with the $1,739CDN first prize cheque, moving up 86 spots the World Ranking Standings into 136th place overall with 24.117 total points. Pollanen ranks 55th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 14.012 points earned so far this season.
