By Meredith McCullum The men's side of the Co-op Canadian Open will conclude Sunday afternoon as Bruce Mouat's squad faces Brad Gushue's new lineup in an epic battle. Mouat came into the playoffs as the first seed with a 4-0 record through round robin. He defeated Matt Dunstone 6-3 in the quarterfinal and Italy's Joel Retornaz 4-2 in the semi. Mouat curled a perfect game, with teammates Grant Hardie and Hammy McMillan not far behind at 98% and Bobbie Lammie at 97%. Mouat's squad from Stirling, Scotland won the first Grand Slam of the season and look to make it 2-0 Sunday afternoon. WATCH Semifinal: Mouat vs RetornazBrad Gushue is in his second event with a new lineup, bringing in Brendan Bottcher at second to join Geoff Walker and Mark Nichols. Gushue's squad went 4-0 through round robin, ranking second going into playoffs. In the quarterfinal Gushue faced Sweden's Niklas Edin. The game would need an extra end to decide a winner and Gushue made a precise runback to score a point and win the game 6-5. Then in the semi he faced Switzerland's Yannick Schwaller. Steals in the third and fourth and a huge 3 points in the sixth gave Gushue a 6-2 victory and a place in Sunday's final. WATCH Semifinal: Gushue vs SchwallerThe final marks a repeat of the HearingLife Tour Challenge in Charlottetown, PEI in early October where these two teams played in the final. Mouat earned a decisive 10-3 victory in that game to earn his sixth GSOC title, and now has one of each event to his name. Since that match, Gushue made a significant change, dropping second EJ Harnden in exchange for former Alberta skip Brendan Bottcher. The teams have not yet faced with Gushue's new lineup so this matchup will look different than their previous meetings. The men's final will take place Sunday at 2:30pm MT, following the conclusion of the women's game.
