Scheidegger Takes Long Road into Red Deer Final

Lethbridge's Casey Scheidegger (Photo: Anil Mungal, GSOC) faces Ottawa's Rachel Homan in 10th game of the weekend after qualifying through C-side.

Scheidegger, with Kate Cameron at third, Jessie Haughan at second and Taylor McDonald at lead reached the final in consecutive events now after their runner-up finish at the Ladies Alberta Open in Okotoks last weekend.

For Scheidegger, this marks the third final of the season, having lost the final of the PointsBet Canada Invitational in September.

Scheidegger opened with an 8-1 loss to Calgary's Kayla Skrlik, then strung together four straight wins to reach the B-Qualifier game, where they lost 7-5 to Tabitha Peterson of the United States.

Scheidegger bounced back with a 7-6 win over another American opponent - Sarah Anderson - in the C-Qualifier game, then won 6-3 in the Quarterfinals over Team Lawes with Selena Njegovan at skip, and 6-3 again over Japan's Satsuki Fujisawa in the Semifinals.

Homan comes into Monday afternoon's final having won five straight games.

The final goes at 4 pm MT (6 pm ET) at the Red Deer Curling Club.
