In Own Words:
Despite having curled for 25 years, there have been long lapses in my curling career as I went to grad school in California, and moved to Maryland in 1990 to enter the newspaper business and from there the graphic design/printing business. [cr][lf][cr][lf]After a lapse of 11 years I began curling again in January 2002 at Potomac at the new club. I had been aware of the club when I moved to Maryland, but the one night schedule, hockey ice, and 60-mile drive left me feeling my curling days were over. [cr][lf][cr][lf]I decided after talking with my cousins back in Canada about their kids' youth programs and being involved in coaching and so forth, and with more breathing room in my schedule, I thought to take up the game again regardless simply for fun. And little did I know then that the new National Capital Curling Center that hosts the Potomac Curling Club was in its final stages of construction. [cr][lf][cr][lf]Suddenly I was helping put up stud walls, drywall and painting, helping put in the final sheets of ice and just itching to get back on real ice. Over the past couple of years I have been actively involved in instruction, helping organize bonspiels, coordinating new leagues and helping introduce new curlers to this terrific game. [cr][lf][cr][lf]I am currently lead ice technician for the club. I will be the on-site coordinator for the 2005 Mixed National Championship that will be held at the Potomac Curling Club in Laurel, Md. And personally the opportunity to compete again competitively has been deeply rewarding.
Curling Highlights:
* U.S. National Championships: 2007 (9th), 2004[cr][lf]* U.S. Mixed National Championship: 2007 (bronze), 2006 (runner-up), 2004, 2003[cr][lf]* U.S. Senior National Championships: 2007
