Event Information
The 2005 Ford Men's World Curling Championship was awarded to Victoria in the Fall of 2003 bringing world class men's curling back to Victoria for the first time since the 1984 Brier. The 2005 championship will be staged from April 2-10, 2005 at the brand new, 7,500 seat Victoria. This event will be the first time the men's and women's events will be contested separately since 1989. A decision was rendered by the WCF at its semi-Annual Assembly in Grindelwald, Switzerland, December 2002, to conduct the events together; they were previously conducted as separate championships from 1979-1988. The event will also be a test for British Columbia as it is also the first winter Olympic sport being contested at a World Championship level prior to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
