In their opening game, de Jong defeated Matt Tolley (Penticton, BC) 7-1, then won 9-3 against Sean Stevinson (Lafayette, CO) and 5-4 against Matthew Blandford (Vancouver, BC). de Jong went on to lose 5-4 against British Columbia's Brad Thompson in their final qualifying round match.
