Matt Dunstone (Winnipeg, MB) won 6-0 over John Epping (Toronto, ON) in the Final of the Red Deer Curling Classic, held November 15 - 18 at the Red Deer Curling Club in Red Deer, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Dunstone won 7-4 over Korey Dropkin (Duluth, MN) in the semifinals of the Red Deer Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; and won 4-2 over Daniel Casper (Chaska, MN) in the quarterfinals. of the Red Deer Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada;
Dunstone finished 4-1 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Dunstone defeated Daylan Vavrek (Sexsmith, AB) 10-4, then won 8-5 against Brent Pierce (New Westminister, BC) to advance to a A-Qualifier game where they lost 5-3 against Rylan Kleiter (Saskatoon, SK). Dunstone responded with a 7-4 win over Charley Thomas (Saskatoon, SK) to advance to the B-Qualifier where they 8-3 against Epping to advance to the playoff round. in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Red Deer Curling Classic Championship title, Dunstone earned 41.250 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN first prize cheque. For week 16 of the event schedule, Dunstone did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Dunstone ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
