Takumi Maeda (Kitami, JPN) won 12-5 over Shunta Kobayashi (Sapporo, JPN) in the Final of the Hokkaido Curling Championships, held December 6 - 12, 2023 in Sapporo, Japan.
Maeda finished 7-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Maeda defeated Fukuhiro Ohno (Hokkaido, JPN) 10-1, then won 13-1 against Keita Takano (Hokkaido, JPN) and 7-2 against Yutaro Kasai (Sapporo, JPN). Maeda won 9-2 against Kobayashi, then won 9-1 against Taia Nakahara (Kitami, JPN) and 8-1 against Hiroyuki Honda (Kitami, JPN). Maeda won 3-2 against Yuya Takigahira (Hokkaido, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Hokkaido Curling Championships Championship title, Maeda earned 3.750 world rankings points, remaining in 57th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 1.5 after improving upon their best so far this season. Maeda ranks 48th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 53.875 points earned so far this season.
