Gushue responded with a 9-7 win over Jean-Michel Arsenault (Levis, QC). Gushue went on to lose 7-5 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT). Gushue responded with a 8-3 win over Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). Gushue won 8-3 against Shane Latimer (Iqaluit, NU), then won 11-3 against Tyler Smith (Crapaud, PEI) and 10-4 against Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Montana's Brier Championship title, Gushue earned 67.500 world rankings points. Gushue move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 48.375 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 6th overall with 286.750 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
